Piranhas Swim Team Try Outs

Piranhas swim team try-outs! 

May 2-5 from 4-7pm each day

5 & 6 age group only swim 15 meters freestyle(from middle of pool to wall- we do have "catchers" that hold the child in the middle of the pool until that event begins or child swims from the wall towards the "catcher"). if the coaches feel the child is ready to swim against 7-8 year olds they may bump up to those events.

7-10 age group- swim 25 yards (1 lap= deep end to shallow end). This age group swims all 4 strokes- freestyle, breast stroke, backstroke, butterfly. 

11-18 age group- swim 50 yards(2 laps= start from deep end, swim to shallow and continue back to deep end). This age group swims all 4 strokes as well. The age group is divided within this group: 11-12, 13-14, 15-18. 

**The cut-off date for a child's date of birth is June 1. What this means is, if a child at try-outs

 is 10 years old and is turning 11 before June 1. They will be swimming against 11-12 year olds in the meets.If the child is turning 11 after June 1, they will be swimming with 9-10 year olds. 

Our meets, championships & team events are run in July. We do ask parents to please check your plans before making a commitment to the team. Swimmers qualify for championships based on their events in the swim meets and their times. Their technique must also be legal in order to be submitted to championships. 

Practices are run 4-5 days a week starting in May all the way through end of July. Locations are Pavonia and Johnston Pool. Location Times are TBD.
